The pitching mounds every Little League tournament needs.

A baseball player gets ready to throw on a Portolite portable pitching 6” Two-Piece Game Mound.

Imagine a bustling baseball tournament with teams, spectators, and field crews buzzing from field-to-field, and game-to-game, throughout a weekend.

That reality will soon be here for young players throughout the United States — and many say Portolite’s extremely light-weight 6” Two-Piece Game Mounds hit it out of the park when it comes to a stellar tournament.

They agree the pitching mounds — made of two pieces weighing less than 60 pounds each — are perfect for Little League as well as older players ages 9-13.

“These mounds are the toughest in the industry,” praised Brandon Hardy, who oversees 700 teams playing on more than 50 fields as event director of Triple Crowns Omaha SlumpBuster Tournament. “They hold up to incredible wear from our tournaments and programs. And you can’t beat the portability.”

Pitchers were throwing from a flat surface, he said. Portolite’s raised mounds give Triple Crown a competitive edge — a way to stand out from other events.

Neil Rutkowski, 3and2 Baseball Club director of baseball operations, considers himself a “mound geek,” and couldn’t happier with his Portolite purchase.

He oversees functions of leagues, tournaments, camps, and clinics for T-ball through high school players across 27 diamonds on two properties.

“I know the mounds out there,” Rutkowski said. “I put them to the test at our parks over the years, and Portolite is the clear market leader when it comes to durability and agility. Portolite stands up to time and the elements.”

The mobility of the 6” mounds have been crucial for his facility.

“We play multiple age groups on our field,” he said. “That means we are constantly moving mounds to meet the ages of players on the field. Portolite is lightweight, making that a quick, one-person job.”

These pitching mounds give young pitchers the feel of a regulation baseball mound, and include gentle slopes for pick-off moves, so kids won’t fall off the mound. They have tapered edges, so there are no “lips” for players to trip on during play.

Made of high-quality fiberglass, poly and turf materials, each mound gives the pitcher a solid, no bounce, yet cushioned surface to reduce knee and ankle strain.

A hidden wear pad in front of the pitching rubber means the mound will last for years to come. Turf colors come in green, clay, red and tan.

Minnesota’s Stillwater Area Baseball Association Treasurer Dave Andrews replaced aging pitching mounds with 6” Portolite game mounds after much Internet research. He considers it money well spent.

“The mounds are lightweight, and that allows us to be much more efficient when adjusting mounds between games,” he said. “That time saved really makes a difference when you’re managing eight teams of 9- to 12-year-olds.”
